Meet Our Assistant Principal, Juan Sanchez

Hello Cedar Creek Elementary families!

I am incredibly honored to serve as your Assistant Principal. My journey in education has taken me through almost every corner of the classroom, and I am excited to bring that experience to support our wonderful students, teachers, and families every single day.

My Background & Education

Born in Matehuala, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, I grew up blending cultures across Monterrey, Nuevo León, and Houston, Texas. My love for learning led me to the University of Houston, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Driven by a desire to make a deeper impact on students and educators, I later obtained my Master’s degree in Education from Concordia University.

My Educational Philosophy & Experience

I believe that a great school starts with empowered teachers. Prior to stepping into the Assistant Principal role, I served as a bilingual specialist for secondary schools, where I led professional development in second-language acquisition and championed highly effective teaching strategies designed to help all students succeed.

Over the course of my career, I have had the unique privilege of teaching:

• All elementary grade levels
• Served as an RTI teacher and later RTI Specialist
• Secondary ELAR (English Language Arts and Reading)
• Secondary Multilingual Specialist

This broad background gives me a deep understanding of where our students are starting and where they are headed. I am incredibly passionate about coaching our educators and supporting them in their professional growth so we can provide the best possible environment for your children.

Deep Roots in Bastrop ISD

Cedar Creek Elementary isn't just where I work—it is a place that holds a special piece of my heart. Both of my own children attended Cedar Creek Elementary and went on to graduate from Bastrop ISD. I know firsthand the care, dedication, and community spirit that define this district, both as an educator and as a proud parent.

Life Outside the Classroom

When I'm not on campus supporting our students and staff, I enjoy a wide variety of unique hobbies. You can usually find me:

• Gardening: I specialize in cultivating desert roses and tracking down rare, exotic plants. I love talavera pots!
• Exploring Herpetology: I have a lifelong fascination with reptiles and amphibians—including my pet giant tortoise, who is 28 years old!
• Unwinding: I am an avid reader and a big fan of anime and manga.
